21st day post-op

Emma is doing very well and is extremely close to being back to her normal level of functionality pre-op.  She even ran today in the hospital corridor with her walker, but it was difficult with her splints on.  We’ll give it a go tomorrow without the splints and see what she can do.  She did more work on the treadmill today and practised walking up/down stairs.  We made some adjustments to the new splints also.  All in all a fairly uneventful day.  The highlight was lunch at The Boathouse restaurant with Grammy and the girls’ very first ‘root beer float’ an American tradition.  They weren’t too impressed, but mommy was happy to lap up the leftovers!

The blog updates will begin to slow down now, as we prepare for our departure from St. Louis.  We’re very excited to be going home to the UK this week.  Tomorrow (Wed) will be physical therapy again, and then the business of returning the rental car and packing as well as cleaning up the apartment/flat.  Thursday will bring a very early morning PT session, the last one, and then a noon shuttle to the airport.  We’ll fly from St. Louis at 3:30 and arrive in Chicago at 4:30 where we will stay overnight.  Then Friday morning catch an early plane Heathrow-bound and arrive close to midnight on Friday.

So thanks for watching and please check back periodically to see updates of Emma’s progress, which we expect to improve on a monthly basis.  And a huge THANK YOU for all your support to help us HELP EMMA WALK.
